Microneedling Q&A

What is microneedling?

The InMode Morpheus8 radiofrequency microneedling system improves upon a treatment that already delivers permanent results.

Traditional microneedling helps your skin and underlying tissues grow new collagen for improved firmness and fewer wrinkles, among other benefits. By adding radiofrequency to your treatment with the Morpheus8, you can experience more drastic and quicker results.

During a session, the needles on the Morpheus8 device penetrate your skin to cause small areas of controlled damage that stimulate the natural healing process. Your provider offers local anesthesia for your comfort.

The Morpheus8 machine emits radiofrequency to warm deeper tissues and cause a stronger response. Novo Wellness typically recommends 2-4 microneedling treatments.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling, especially with radiofrequency, can improve your skin’s tone, texture, and firmness. It can even result in a contouring effect by tightening and constricting loose skin.

Three to six months after your initial Morpheus8 procedure at Novo Wellness, you’ll notice improvements on your skin’s surface and deep within. The many benefits of this treatment include:

  • Fewer fine lines and wrinkles
  • Tighter skin
  • Fewer visible pores
  • Improved healing for scars
  • More uniform skin tone
  • Fewer dark spots
  • Smoother skin

Microneedling also helps your skin better absorb beneficial nutrients and skin care ingredients for some time after the procedure. It’s important that you use gentle products on your skin as it heals and take steps to protect yourself from further sun damage, which can compromise your results.

How should I prepare for microneedling?

During your initial microneedling treatment consultation, your provider can describe the procedure to you in detail so you know exactly what to expect. They can also give you tips to ready your skin for the procedure and avoid unwanted side effects.

To get the best results from microneedling and minimize effects like redness, swelling, and bleeding, your provider recommends that you:

  • Avoid drinking alcohol beforehand
  • Avoid nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) beforehand
  • Stop using salicylic acid products
  • Reschedule if you have an active skin infection or sunburn

During your consultation, your provider tells you how long you’ll need to implement these suggestions in your routine. You should also mention any medications you take regularly and any conditions you have that could potentially interfere with the procedure or results.
